Elma, WA -
Another great night of weather and racing at Grays Harbor Raceway. Victories went to Craig Moore, David Greene, John Johnson, Daisha Stevens, and Doug Davenport under another beautiful Spring Night of weather.
Brenton Schnitzer led the field to green in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds with Scott Miller in second and Zane Miner in 3rd, and a hard charging Craig Moore from 9th to 4th until a caution for 2nd place Miller. On the restart it would take a couple laps but Moore would find something and get around Miner and then start closing in on the leader. Moore found a fast line using the middle of the track and just drove around Schnitzer with 8 to go to pick up his first win of the season keeping his podium streak alive, and his track points lead and taking over the Washington State points with 3 weeks gone in the season. Schnitzer was able to finish second holding off Miner for 3rd. Jake Sorenson would have a hard fought battle and get 4th followed by John Higgenbottom in 5th. Heat race wins went to Scott Miller, and Brenton Schnitzer and the Elma Lanes Hard Charger is Craig Moore for the second week in a row.
Piper Harless took the lead into turn one with David Greene getting into second. Green closed fast in turn 3 went to the bottom and took the lead coming out of 4 and the 15yr old from Graham WA was able to cruise to the win leading all 20 laps. Harless was able to come home second holding off opening Night winner Doug Davenport in the Tim and Anna Martin owned 51 who would finish 3rd followed by Chad David and a dnf to Garrel Powels. Heat race win went to Piper Harless, and the quick time was David Greene.
John Johnson took the lead over Dale Vacknitz Jr and was comfortably out front with opening night winner Austin Kerrigan who had to start at the back of the field because of class rules quickly moving to the front. After a couple cautions Kerrigan moved into second after battling Vacknitz for a couple laps. Once Kerrigan got into second he gained on Johnson and they had a great battle with Johnson and Kerrigan swapping back and forth in the last 6 laps with only one official lead change on lao 14. Johnson came back using the middle of the track and was able to get around Kerrigan and hold him off for the win. The A Hornet heat races were won by Austin Kerrigan, and Dale Vacknitz Jr with quick time going to Austin Kerrigan. In the B Hornets main event is was an interesting event with Daisha Stevens getting the win followed by Tawni Kerrigan. Both drivers decided to not the run A and keep their points. B Hornet heat race wins went to Ryan Downing and Tawni Kerrigan.
The Northwest Focus Midgets made their season debut with Dalton Christmas leading the first two laps.
