Elma, WA -
The weather in the early afternoon would not stop Grays Harbor Raceway from getting the first night of the Season Championship in. Don Martin awarded his first IMCA Modified race. Jordi Meese and Keira Zylstra would have commanding wins in the Sprint Cars. It was a family affair as both the Miller siblings win their respective track championships in the Sprint Car Classes.
The IMCA Modifieds were back with a pivotal race before next weeks championship on a hooked up race track. Chaz Wilder took the lead on lap 1 and was holding off a charging Jake Sorrenson when a caution came out on lap 12. On the restart Don Martin got around Sorrenson for second and the battle was on for second until the caution came out again. The final longer green flag run Chaz Wilder from right down the road in Elma would extend his lead and dominate the IMCA Modified feature, but in an unfortunate turn of events his car didn’t pass tech and. Don Martin from Yakima would be awarded the win. Marin would hold off Jake Sorrenson second, Tyson Blood third who was making a run through the field, Zane Minor fourth, and Brian Izzi would round out the top 5. Heat race wins went to John Higgenbottom, Elliott French, and Jake Sorenson and the Elma Lane Hard Charger is Tyson Blood (+11)..
Jordi Meese took the lead from the outside of row 1 and the caution came out for Tim Martin. On the restart Jordi Meese would take the lead and build a sizable lead until a caution for Levi Kuntz with 5 to go. On the restart Jordi Meese held off Jeff Dunlap and Destry Miller to pick up his first win of this year. The quick time was Destry Miller, heat race win went to Levi Kuntz and your 2024 360 track champion is Destry Miller in the Bulldog Trailers 5D picking up his 3rd Sprint Car Championship in a row and rookie of the year in the 360 Sprint Car.
In the 360 Limited Sprints Keira Zylstra took the lead from the pole to lead every lap and picked up her first win on the season. Second place went to Alex Olsen, third place Steve Parker and 4th was Xan Miller. The quick time was Steve Parker, heat race winner was Keira Zylstra, and your 2024 360 Limited Sprint Champion was Xan Miller who made it a family affair in the Sprint Car classes.
Sept 21st is Season Championship Night 2 and we will crown champions in the IMCA Modifieds, SuperStocks, and Hornets. Then we will have our season finale on Sept 28th where we crown the track champion in the Focus Midgets plus 360 Sprints, 360 Liimited Sprints, and Hornets get one more chance to attack the Grays Harbor Raceway for 2024.
