Elma, WA -
Great April Spring weather greeted the racers and the fans on opening night of theGrays Harbor Raceway 2026 season. Kevin Williamson, Destry Miller, Doug Davenport, and Brad Martin put it in victory lane.
In the IMCA Modifieds Grey Ferrando led the first 21 laps setting a torrid pace putting cars down a lap. Rookie racer and first time visiter to the track Robert Lancaster and veteran Craig Moore found something and got around Devon Reed and then Lancaster found extra speed gaining on leader and on lap 21 Lancaster took the lead and looked like he was well on his way to getting a win in his first appearance to the raceway, but then he saw a caution, when Reed and Jason St. Paul spun, he didn’t want to see came out with 3 to go. On the restart Lancaster led one lap and then seemed to lose it and spun going into turn one in front of Kevin Williiamson and the caution came out. Williamson led on the final restart and held off Craig Moore who would finish second and Austin Rognlin who finished 3rd. Rounding out the top 5 was Tyson Blood and Jason St Paul who made a big run on the final restart. Heat race wins went to Robert Lancaster, Grey Ferrando, and Zane Miner, and the Elma Lanes Hard Charger was Kevin Williamson (+16)
It was easy sailing for Doug Davenport in the Limited Sprint Main event leading all 15 laps over Garrel Powers and Chad Davis.
In the 360 main Samuel Strange had the field covered until his engine went south on lap 13. Defending champion Destry Miller was able to get the lead and sail on to the win. Xan Miller, and Doug Davenport would round out the top 3.
Corey Esteban led the field to the green with Brad Martin on his bumper in the PHRA Dwarf Cars. Brad would be able to get around Corey after a few laps but the caution came out and since he hadn’t completed a position he had to do it all over again. After a few restarts they finally got a few laps in and Brad took the lead from Corey and lead the rest of the race. Jeremy Martin used a lap car as a pick to get around Corey Esteban for second behind his son. Corey Esteban would finish 3rd followed by Dennis Liebig, and Dave Brune.
Next Saturday night, the IMCA Modifieds return for round 2, along with the season debut of the IMCA SportMods, and Hornets, and the dwarf cars are back but this time under the NW Dwarf Car banner.. Spectator gates open at 4:30 with hot laps at 5pm and opening ceremonies at 6 with racing to follow.
