Night 1 of the Elma Hall of Fame 360 Battle Royale saw some great racing between the 360 Sprint Cars, Wingless Sprint Series and PHRA Dwarf Cars. $3000 was on the line for the 360 Sprint Cars, with the top four from the feature locked into Sunday's redraw.

360 Sprint Cars

26 360 sprint cars took to the 3/8 banked clay oval. Two sets of heat races were ran, as well as a dash, B-Main and feature event. The 30 lap, $3000 to win feature saw Kelly Miller of Lethbridge, Alberta led the field to the green flag. Cottage Grove, Ore driver Kinzer Cox ran in second. The red flag flew for Trever Kirkland of Helena, MT getting upside down in turn three. He exited the car and was ok. Miller and Cox led the field to the green on the restart. Cox looked low into turn one but it was Miller taking over the lead. Snohomish driver Chase Goetz moved into second with a pass down low in turn two. Goetz set his sights on Miller, as both drivers ran the high side into turn one. Lap 9 saw the caution flag fly for Roseburg, Ore's Kyle Alberding with a broke front axle. Miller led Goetz, Cox, Evan Margeson of Tacoma to the green flag. Goetz made a move into turn one taking the lead from Miller. Margeson saw tough company for the fourth position between Colton Heath of Marysville and Owasso, OK driver Seth Bergman. All three drivers battled for position, looking to track down Cox for third. Kalib Henry of Sacramento, CA joined in on the battle as well, getting by Margeson, Heath and Bergman. Goetz worked his way through lap traffic, keeping Miller behind him, as a wild battle between multiple cars for second was the race to watch. Henry worked his way into the top three after a bobble by Cox, Bergman worked his way into fourth. Miller saw Henry right on his back bumper, looking to work his way into second. Henry made the pass, bringing Heath and Bergman with him. Multiple drivers battled it out for that fourth and final position to be locked into the redraw for Sunday. Goetz continued to work his way through lap traffic and picked up the win. Henry, Heath, Bergman and Cox rounded out the top five. Goetz, Henry, Heath and Bergman will be locked into tomorrows redraw. Two sets of heat races were ran earlier in the evening, set one saw Jordi Meese of Graham, Margeson and Medford, Ore driver Garen Linder pick up the win. Set two saw Bergman, Miller and Kirkland. Miller also won the dash. The B-Main saw Ashton Torgerson of Medford, Ore picked up the win.

Wingless Sprint Series

Garrett Thomas of Elma and Sherwood, Ore's Chad Lindsey shared the front row for the 30-lap feature event. Thomas took the early lead but Chad Lindsey was right there running the high side looking for a mistake. Rob Lindsey of Sherwood, Ore also joined in on the battle. Thomas ran low, Chad Lindsey ran high, two lines of racing brought on a battle for the lead. Multiple laps saw the battle between Thomas and Chad Lindsey, lap 7 Lindsey took the lead. Rob Lindsey looked to work his way into second, and track down his son Chad for the lead. The battle for fifth was another race to watch between James Bundy of Marysville, Everett's Michael Hodel and Ronnie Cox of Bothel. Hodel and Bundy battled back and forth. Ricky Ashley of Springfield saw tough company for the fourth position with Bundy, Cox, Hodel and Forrest Grove, Ore's Jojo Batalgia. Plenty of racing action throughout the field on a racetrack with a top and low groove. Chad Lindsey put some distance on Thomas and Rob Lindsey. Lap traffic became a factor, allowing Thomas to close back in at Chad Lindsey. Thomas jumped the cushion in turn four, allowing Lindsey to pull away slightly. Heavier lap traffic became a factor for Chad Lindsey as the leaders came to the white flag. Thomas closed in on Chad Lindsey, looking for a pass for the lead. Both drivers took the white flag, Thomas looked low going into turn one, Chad Lindsey was sideways down the backstretch allowing Thomas to close in, as both drivers made it into turn three, Thomas looked low, and did a slide job pass, Chad Lindsey went to the inside, and both cars fought it out to the line with Thomas picking up an exciting win. Chad Lindsey, Ashley, Rob Lindsey and Cox were the top five. Ashley and Bundy won their heat races with Rob Lindsey picking up fast time.

PHRA Dwarf Cars

Tylor Howard of Kent brought the field to the green flag in the 25-lap feature event. Molalla, Ore driver Henry Corbin III ran in second as Mike Chadwick of Hillsboro, Ore battled with Redmond, Ore driver Rob Glenney. Howard put some slight distance early on as Corbin III, Glenney, and Chadwick battled for second. Glenney took over the runner up spot as Chadwick looked to take over third. Howard looked strong out front, having a great 2023 season for his Grays Harbor Raceway visits. Early on Howard had almost a straightaway lead on Glenney, Chadwick, and Corbin III. Greg Long of Forrest Grove, Ore ran in the fourth position, as Crystal Flath of Corbett, Ore ran in fifth. Lap 9 saw trouble for Howard, as he spun in turn one, bringing out the caution, allowing Glenney to inherit the lead. Glenney led Chadwick, Corbin III, Long and Flath to the green flag. Corbin III looked low in turn one to take over the lead, as both drivers raced side by side. Glenney was within striking distance of taking the lead back. Long moved into third, getting by Chadwick. Howard quickly worked his way back into the top five, getting by Flath, and set his sights on third. Corbin III put some slight distance on Glenney, as Howard worked his way back into the top three. A long green flag run, allowed Howard a chance at the lead. Late in the feature Howard and Corbin III battled it out for the lead, with Howard going from the back to the front. Howard picked up the win over Corbin III, Glenney, Long, and Flath. Howard also picked up the heat race earlier in the evening.

Night 2 of the Elma Hall of Fame 360 Battle Royale will continue tonight as the 360 Sprint Cars will battle it out for $5000. Also on hand will be the Wingless Sprint Series and the PHRA Dwarf Cars. Gates open at 4:30 with racing around 6PM.
