Cole, Zylstra, and Briggs Sr Victorious!

With the sun shining bright on the 3/8 banked clay oval and temperatures around 70 degrees. The 360 Sprint Cars, Limited Sprints, and Hornets were in action.

Limited Sprints

The 25-lap feature saw Monroe's Kiera Zylstra and Kai Dixon of Maple Ridge, BC set the front row. Zylstra took the early lead, putting some distance on Dixon. Olympia's Destry Miller ran in the third spot with Ellensburg driver Dana Glenn and Levi Kuntz of Carnation rounding out the top five. The first caution of the feature saw Tacoma's Samuel Strange spin in turn four. Zylstra led Dixon, Destry Miller, Glenn and the rest of the field to the green flag. Dixon looked to stay within striking distance to take over the top spot as Miller was right on the back bumper looking to work his way into the runner up position. Glenn and Kuntz battled for the fourth position for a handful of laps until Glenn pulled to the infield. Cory Swatzina of Sedro Woolley inherited his way into the top five, looking to track down Kuntz. Both drivers raced side by side for a handful of laps midway through the feature. Zylstra continued to extend her lead on a long green flag run and picked up the win over Dixon, Kuntz, Swatzina and Destry Miller. Heat races were won by Destry Miller and Kuntz with Miller picking up fast time.

Hornets

Riley Shapansky of Elma took the early lead in the 20-lap feature. Elma's Scott Reed looked to the high side, both drivers racing side by side down the backstretch. Hoquiam driver Tyler Sundstrom moved into second, getting by Reed. Brandon Tyler of Elma looked to work his way into a podium finish, battling Reed. Sundstrom saw tough company as Riley Shapansky raced side by side for the lead. Lap 3 saw the caution flag fly for Payton Harding of Oakville, spinning in turn four. On the restart it was Sundstrom, Riley Shapansky, Tyler leading the rest of the field. Tyler moved into second, bringing Zach Dalrymple of Olympia with him. Dalrymple and Riley Shapansky battled for third, also looking to make a bid for second. Jason Reed of Elma, who started dead last worked his way into the top five, making it a four-car battle for second. Sundstrom started to put some distance on the rest of the field. Tyler, Riley Shapansky, Dalrymple and Jason Reed continued their battle, with Reed working his way into the top three. Jason Reed worked his way into second, looking to track down Sundstrom. Lap 10 saw the caution flag fly, after contact between Riley and Robert Shapansky in turn one saw Robert stop. Also involved was Scott Reed, spinning to avoid the incident. On the restart it was Sundstrom, Jason Reed, Tyler, and the rest of the field. Reed looked to the inside in turn one, racing side by side with Sundstrom until the right front tire on Reed's car went flat, bringing out the caution and ending his evening. Wishkah's Don Briggs Sr worked his way into the top three, looking to battle Sundstrom, taking the lead late in the feature. Sundstrom looked to make a possible late race past to gain the lead back but it was Briggs Sr picking up the win. Sundstrom, Dalrymple, Tyler and Riley Shapansky rounded out the top five. Sundstrom and Jason Reed picked up the heat races earlier on.

360 Sprint Cars

Kelso driver John Stuart and Tim Martin of Shelton set the front row. Stuart took the early lead, but the caution flag flew for a jumped start. Setting up a complete restart, it was Stuart taking the early lead. Jay Cole of Shelton quickly moved into second and getting by Stuart for the lead. Jeff Dunlap of Kent moved into third, getting by Martin, as Ellensburg's Dana Glenn worked his way to fourth. Cole quickly put some distance on Stuart and Dunlap. Stuart went high in turn two, allowing Dunlap and Glenn to get by but the caution flag flew for a spinning Glenn in turn four on lap 5. On the restart it was Cole, Stuart, Dunlap and Martin leading the rest of the field. Dunlap worked his way by Stuart, as Kiera Zylstra of Monroe joined in on the battle with Stuart and Martin. Lap 7 saw the red flag fly for Stuart, making contact with the front stretch wall and getting upside down. The driver was ok. Cole, Dunlap, Zylstra and Levi Kuntz of Carnation led the field to the green flag. Kuntz looked to the high side of Zylstra, working his way into a podium spot, setting his sights on Dunlap for second. Kuntz made contact with the right rear tire of Dunlap, almost going for a wild ride, but saved the car, and continued on, allowing Zylstra to work her way back into the top three. Cole quickly put some distance on Dunlap, running the low side of the raceway. A long green flag run allowed Dunlap to get closer to Cole, both drivers worked their way through a little bit of lap traffic. Dunlap had one last shot, running the high side of the raceway. Dunlap made it to the back bumper but it was Cole picking up the win. Dunlap, Kuntz, Zylstra and Glenn rounded out the top five. Heat race winners earlier in the evening were Glenn and Maple Ridge BC driver Kai Dixon with Glenn picking up fast time.
