Elma, WA -
A week in Washington can sure make a difference in weather as, Grays Harbor Raceway hosted Liuna Local 252 and had the “Greak Bike Giveaway” where Brenton Schnitzer, Destry Miller, Austin Kerrigan, and, John Jophnson Racing with Austin Kerrigan behind the wheel all went to victory lane.
Brenton Schnitzer took the lead quickly in the IMCA Modifieds and led all 25 laps out front to get the his fourth win of the season. Zane Miner started 7th and had a great battle in the top 5 and was able to get to 2nd, but ran out of time to challenge for the win. Tyson Blood started 12th and was able to work his way forward and avoided disaster on lap 15 and finish third and continues to lead Brenton by 35 points as he looks for his fifth State and Track Championship. Zack Simpson ran the Josh Muller car and was battling for the lead most of the first 17 laps when he spun on lap 18, but was able to recover late to finish 4th. Austin Rognlin was battling up in the top 5 the second part of the race and make some moves to avoid disaster on lap 15 and was able to bring it home 5th. Heat race wins earlier in the night went to Jake Sorenson, Zack Simpson, and Austin Rognlin.
Thanks to Marson Racing the Super Stocks had a $1000 to win race and when Shane Kerrigan with 3 wins on season couldn’t get his car to run he was pushed off and didn’t start, his son Austin Kerrigan was able to run away and hide and pick up the big win and his second win on the season. Jesse Yankee from Marson Racing in his first start this year came home second after a spirited battle with 3rd place Jayson Wolcott. Tom Hecker came home 4th in his retirement year in the green goblin and Steve Vonheeder came home fifth. Heat race wins went to Wolcott and Kerrigan.
The Hornets had an eventful main event where Austin Kerrigan driving the John Johnson 215 went to the work area on lap 5 and came back out was able to go from the back to the front in 3 laps and hold off Nik Sheats on the green, white, checkered to pick up the cars second win of the season. Sheats finished second, followed by Kyle Ragsdale in 3rd, Payton Harding in 4th and Seth Catterson in fifth. Heat race wins went to Nick Miles, 215, and Blake Coverdale.
