Winebarger Wins WestCoast Modified Clash

Elma, WA - Another successful night of racing concluded Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway with Collen Winebarger of Portland, OR winning the 2020 Westcoast Modified Clash presented by Cut Rate Auto Parts, Shipwreck Beads, and Fusion Graphix.
35 modifieds contested the nights events, with a wild main event capping the evening. The lead changed hands multiple times in the 40 lap brawl, which was shown live on graysharborraceway.tv. 24 cars started the A Main with Joey Tanner setting the early pace and Grey Ferrando chasing. Winebarger would work his way into second on lap 10 after an extended battle with Ferrando, while trying to close on Tanner. On a mid race restart, Winebarger would drive under Tanner to grab the lead and looked to distance from the field. Ferrando would pass Tanner shortly thereafter, and take the lead for a blink of an eye from Winebarger, but Winebarger got the lead back shortly. Entering traffic, Ferrando again got the top spot from Collen, with both drivers committed to their lines. In the end, Winebarger ended up swapping to the high side of the track to better work through the slower cars, and secured the victory in the process, opening up a 3.9 second lead at the end over Ferrando and Tanner. The 8 heat races were won by Winebarger, Brad Martin, Tom Sweatman, Jeremy Martin, Tanner, Ferrando, Devon West and Tyson Blood. Don Jenner won the B Feature.
The Pacific Hardtop Racing Association brought over 20 dwarf cars as the support division for Saturday night, with Josh Rogers taking the A Main win by a margin of .6 seconds over runner up Justin Demers and Henry Corbin III.
For the first time in recent memory, Micro Sprints took to the clay at Grays Harbor Raceway for a 10 lap exhibition race. Oregon’s Paul Cengic was the top finisher in their main.
