Margeson Victorious On Night 1 of Fred Brownfield Classic

Tacoma's Evan Margeson has been tough to beat in the Northwest Focus Midgets Series, as 23 drivers signed in for Night 1 of the Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway. The Northwest Focus Midgets Series was the support division to the Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Car Series. Seth Hespe of Snohomish took the early lead over Chris Bullock of Arlington. Margeson quickly jumped to the lead on lap 1 getting by Hespe. The battle for third had multiple cars racing three and almost four wide as Marysville's Nick Evans worked his way past Bullock for third. Caution quickly flew for Katie Jackson of Puyallup, sitting the wrong direction on the backstretch. On the restart Margeson continued to lead, but the caution quickly flew on lap 12 for a multiple car incident in turn two, all drivers did walk away uninjured. Margeson had a bit of tough company as Evans and Nik Larson of Graham worked their way past Hespe for second and third. The red flag quickly flew a lap later for Hespe as he went upside down in turn four. Hespe did walk away from the incident uninjured.

Margeson once again timed his restarts just right as Evans and Larson waited for a mistake. Shoreline's Hannah Lindquist battled Ross Rankine of Nobsville, Indiana for position as she looked for a mistake from Larson for third. Late in the race Evans looked to catch Evans, getting within a few car lengths but Margeson held on to pick up the feature win. Evans, Larson, McCleary's Garrett Thomas and Lindquist rounded out the top five. Heat race wins went to Hespe, Lindquist and Thomas, with Jonathan Jorgenson picking up the B-Main and Evans getting quick time.
