Margeson wins from 21st, Miller Wins Rained Shortened Feature!

The Wingless Sprint Series were on hand for Round 2 of the Wingless Sprint Shootout presented by Modern Machinery/Walker Racing Development. Also on hand were the Northwest Focus Midgets Series, Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, and Outlaw Tuners. The Northwest Focus Midgets did get their 25 lap feature completed, but the Modified main was cut short on lap 10 due to rain.

Northwest Focus Midgets Series

The 25 lap Northwest Focus Midgets Series feature saw Hannah Lindquist of Shoreline take the early lead, as Burlington's Tristin Thomas was right on her back bumper. Lap 2 saw a caution flag for a multiple car incident as Matt Loving of Burlington became airborne, collected McCleary driver Garrett Thomas and Nick Evans of Marysville. All three drivers were ok. On the restart, Tristin Thomas led the field to the green flag. Lynnwood's Shane Smith worked his way into second, as Jonathan Jorgenson worked his way to third. On a lap 7 restart Smith took the lead from Thomas. Jorgenson also joined in, along with Evan Margeson of Tacoma, after starting 21st. Margeson worked his way by Jorgenson and Thomas, moving into the second spot. A red flag for Alden Ostrom of Sedro Woolley gave Margeson a chance at Smith for the lead. Smith saw mechanical issues on his car, having a broken shock causing issues with handling, allowing Margeson to get by and go on and pick up the win from the back of the field. Jorgenson, Smith, Tristin Thomas and Evans rounded out the top five. Heat race winners went to Garrett Thomas, Tristin Thomas, and Lake Stevens driver Nik Larson with Evans picking up quick time.

Shipwreck Beads Modifieds

The second feature of the evening saw a rain shortened feature, as heavy rains hit the raceway on a lap 10 caution. A pair of Shelton drivers Brenton Schnitzer and Devan West set the front row, Schnitzer took the early lead until West made a pass in turn three on lap 1. Oakville's Brian Harding raced Schnitzer for second, taking over the position, and looking to track down West for the lead. The Caution flag flew after West made contact with Tim Phillips of Spanaway who was slowing to a stop in turn three. Harding took the top spot with Shelton's Scott Miller and Austin Kerrigan of Aberdeen. Harding and Miller raced for a handful of laps until Miller took over the lead on lap 8. The final caution for Schnitzer slowing in turn two saw the conclusion of the feature, giving the win to Miller. The rest of the top five were Harding, Kerrigan, Tyson Blood of Olympia, and Zack Simpson of Aberdeen. Heat race winners were Kerrigan, Harding, and Schnitzer.

Wingless Sprint Series

The Wingless Sprint Series were unable to get their feature event in. Although they did get three heat races in as Sherwood, Ore's Rob Lindsey, JJ Hickle of Quilcene, and Beaverton, Ore driver Wayne Van Raden were winners. The dash saw Hickle pick up the win, as Lindsey picked up quick time.

Outlaw Tuners

Like the wingless sprints, the Outlaw Tuners were unable to get their feature event in. Heat race winners were Jeremy Jones of Wishkah, and Shelton's Joseph Palmer.

Racing will resume next Saturday as the winged 360 Sprint Cars will return, along with the Washington Modified Tour and Street Stocks. Gates open at 5:30PM with racing at 7PM.
