July 29 & 30: Shipwreck Beads Northwest Modified Nationals
Elma, WA - The 17th Annual Shipwreck Beads Northwest Modified Nationals will roar to life on July 29th and 30th at Grays Harbor Raceway's 3/8 mile banked clay oval along with the PHRA Dwarf Cars for the Dwarf Car Nationals. Last year's event saw the 11th different winner of the event, and the 8th different winner since 2007. Jeremy Richey of Phoenix, OR took the early lead and never looked back on a very tough field of drivers from all over the Northwest. Collen Winebarger of Portland, OR, Nick Trenchard of Kalamath Falls, OR, Salem, OR's Jeremy Shank, and Mark Carrell of Redmond rounded out the top five.
A star studded field of drivers will take to the raceway for both nights of action packed, side by side racing including Craig Hanson of Albany, OR, Port Hardy, BC driver Lawrence O'Connor. Past winners of the event Mark Wauge of Medford, OR, Campbell River, BC driver Jason Beaulieu and many Grays Harbor Raceway locals such as Shelton's Scott Miller, Tom Sweatman of Cosmopolis and many more.
The PHRA Dwarf Cars saw Medford, OR driver Camden Robustelli pick up the main event win on the final night in a great race with fellow Medford driver Josh King. Early in the race saw King and Robustelli battle for the top spot as King led early. King would settle for second, with Happy Valley, OR driver Leo Ward rounding out the top three in a star studded PHRA Dwarf Car field. The PHRA Dwarf Cars will be back in action with another action packed group of drivers for both nights.
Grays Harbor Raceway will be the place to be for your dirt modified action on July 29th and 30th. Gates will open at 5PM, with the racing action starting at 7PM.
