Elma, WA -
Late morning brief showers gave away to afternoon sunshine and a fun night of racing at Grays Harbor Raceway. The Wingless Sprints made their debut this season after a season away with TJ Hartman picking up the win. Samuel Strange gets his second win of 2025, and first time wins on the season for Austin Kerrigan and Cory Sweatman.
TJ Hartman from Olympia led the field to green in the Fastlane Motorsports sprinter. TJ was able to get the jump on Ronnie Cox and lead all 20 laps for his first wingless win at the race track. Bothell’s Ronnie Cox finished second, Mount Vernon’s Jeff Pearson finished third, followed by Tenino’s Alex Olsen in fourth. Heat race win went to Jeff Pearson and quick time went to TJ Hartman
Xan Miller from Olympia led the field to green and led the first 13 laps when Tacoma’s Samuel Strange started trying different lines and got around using the middle to higher side of the track. Strange then had to hold off a late run from Xan to pick up the win. Tanner Merritt from Camino Island finished third followed by Alex Olsen from Tenino. Unfortunately Nate Geister from Tahuya couldn’t avoid a spinning Olsen in hot laps and that ended his night before it even really got started. Xan Miller won the heat race and Tanner Merritt was quick time.
In the Super Stocks it was all Aberdeen’s Austin Kerrigan, as the 4 time and defending track champion led all 20 laps. Shane Kerrigan got bottled up in traffic most of the race and had to come from the back of the field per the rules where the winner starts last and after Matt Babcock who was running second lost his motor Shane finished second followed by Montesano’s Scott Fritz, Graham’s Tom Hecker, and Bremerton’s Steve Vonheeder. Stay tuned for more information about the June 21st Super Stock race as we have a cool announcement coming up.
39 Hornets would sign in to race for the third points race. Reuben Pruett from Montesano would take the lead from outside front row until a caution 2 laps in. On the restart Pruett would slow dramatically and Burlington’s Colin Sims would take the lead until another caution two more laps later. Cory Sweatman from Cosmopolis would move up from his row 7 starting spot to 3rd and on the restart was able to get around Sims while Shelton’s Kyle Ragsdale in his first hornet race would start last and work into second, but not able to challenge the 2 time track champion Cory Sweatman who would lead the final 10 laps and win his first this season. Kyle Ragsdale would get second, Oakvill’s Mike Harritt third, Elma’s Nick Miles fourth, and Montesano’s Landon Pruett fifth. Heat race wins went to Colin Sims, Cory Sweatman, Landon Pruett, and Reuben Pruett, and the B Mains went to Steve Peters, and Kyle Ragsdale.
We take next weekend off, and our back on Fathers Day Sunday June 15th for the Timber Cup featuring NARC 410 Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds. It’s the finale of the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports and the only appearance of 410 Sprint Cars at Grays Harbor Raceway in 2025. Reserved and general admission tickets are available.
