Jesse Williamson Wins Modified Clash, Rob Lindsey wins Salute to Indy, Kevin Williamson Victorious!

The final night of the IMCA Modified Clash saw another strong field of IMCA Modifieds. Losing a few cars from Friday, but also gaining more from a few tracks around the Northwest. Also on hand were the Wingless Sprint Series and their "Salute to Indy" finale. The IMCA Northern SportMods also made an appearance.

Rainier, Ore driver Kody Greer and Kevin Williamson of Eugene, Ore set the front row of the 20-lap feature event. Williamson took the early lead with Greer running in second. Brayden Brookshire of Vancouver looked to work his way into the runner up spot, staying on the back bumper of Greer. Williamson quickly jumped out front, extending his lead to half a straightaway early on as Greer and Brookshire battled for second. Lap 6 saw Junction City, Ore driver Sandy Sanders spin in turn four, bringing out the caution. On the restart it was Williamson, Greer and Brookshire. Greer and Brookshire continued their battle as Brookshire looked low to make a pass for second. Lap 10 saw Greer spin in turn one with Brookshire making contact, bringing out the caution. Brookshire continued on, maintaining his position. On the restart it was Williamson, Brookshire and Sanders. Brookshire stayed within striking distance of Williamson, waiting for any mistake to take over the lead. Williamson continued on and picked up the win over Brookshire, Sanders and Greer. Greer picked up the heat race earlier in the evening.

Wingless Sprint Series

12 cars took to the 3/8 banked clay oval. Elma's Garrett Thomas took the early lead with Marysville driver James Bundy taking over second, although a hard charging Rob Lindsey of Sherwood quickly took the runner up position, setting his sights on Thomas for the lead. Tacoma's Evan Margeson jumped into third, shuffling Bundy back to fourth. Bundy took over third after a mistake by Margeson in turn four. Lindsey stayed at the back bumper of Thomas, waiting for any mistake to be made. Both drivers running the low side of the raceway. Margeson worked his way into a podium spot, getting by Bundy as Ricky Ashley of Springfield, Ore looked to work his way into fourth. Ashley made a pass in turn one on lap 11. The battle for the lead continued as Thomas led Lindsey. Thomas pulled away slightly but Lindsey continued to stay close as the laps continued on. Lap 21 saw Thomas bobble slightly in turn three allowing Lindsey to take the lead. Lindsey quickly put some distance on Thomas and went on to pick up the win during a green to checkered feature event. Thomas, Margeson, Ashley and Bundy rounded out the top five. Bundy and Margeson won the heat races with Thomas winning the dash. Lindsey was fast time.

IMCA Modifieds

24 Modifieds took to the raceway for the 35 lap, $2500 to win feature. Eugene, Ore's Jesse Williamson and Tyson Blood of Tumwater set the front row. Williamson took the early lead with Blood back to second. The battle for third between Vancouver's Aaron Elwess and Stayton, Ore driver Grey Ferrando was the race to watch. Elwess moved into second, bringing Ferrando with him, shuffling Blood back to fourth. Elwess ran the low side of the raceway as Ferrando ripped the top side. Both drivers battled for a handful of laps. Williamson continued to pull away from the field. Blood look to join in on the battle for second, as Elwess and Ferrando continued to fight for the position. Ferrando looked to the high side in turn two and made a successful pass. Ferrando set his sights on Williamson who put some distance on the rest of the field. Williamson soon found lap traffic and a big pack of cars in front of him. Williamson maneuvered his way, picking off one car at a time. Back in fourth, Scott Miller of Shelton, and Port Hardy, BC driver Lawrence O'Connor battled it out, racing side by side for numerous laps. Williamson continued to work his way through traffic, running the high side in turns one and two, and the low side in turns three and four. Ferrando also worked his way into traffic, which allowed Elwess to put on another battle for second. The caution flag flew on lap 16 for Ryen Haney of Elma, spinning in turn four. On the restart it was Williamson, Ferrando, Elwess and Blood. Between Williamson and Ferrando were numerous lapped cars. Ferrando worked his way around the lapped cars and had Williamson in his sights. Blood worked his way into third, getting by Elwess. Williamson once again worked his way through lap traffic. Ferrando started to close in late in the race, but lap traffic did not work into his favor. Williamson picked up the win and $2500 over Ferrando, Blood, Elwess and O'Connor. Elma Lane's Hard Charger went to Campbell River, BC driver Chris Beaulieu. Working his way from 20th to 11th. Heat race winners earlier in the evening were Zane Miner of Graham, Seabeck's Kyler Moore, Ferrando, and Dustin Comer of Eugene, Ore. The second set saw Scott Miller, Brenton Schnitzer of Shelton, Ferrando, and Seabeck driver Craig Moore. The dash went to Williamson, and the B-Main saw Haney pick up the win, with Oakville's Brian Harding, Kevin Valen of Rochester, and Chaz Wilder of Elma transferring to the feature.
