By Aaron Reed

The final night of the ISCS Limited Sprint Week of Speed took to the 3/8's banked clay oval, along with the Dwarf Cars and the final race ever for the Rolling Thunder Big Rigs. The weather was perfect, and the crowd was huge for the racing action.

ISCS Limited Sprint Cars

24 Limited Sprint Cars signed in, gaining a few extra cars for the final race of the 2021 Week of Speed. A tight points battle between Harrisburg, Ore's Tyler Thompson and Camden Robustelli of Medford, Ore would come down to the feature event. Thompson had the upper hand starting on the front row. Tacoma driver Evan Margeson led the field to the green flag, but it was Thompson taking the lead out of turn two. Burlington's Justin Youngquist and Shane Forte of Junction City, Ore battled it out for third. Thompson extended his lead on Margeson and Youngquist, quickly coming up on lap traffic. Youngquist looked to the low side of Margeson for second but couldn't make the pass. Forte had tough company as Jordi Meese of Graham looked to take the fourth position. Meese made his way by Forte as Roseburg, Ore driver Kyle Alberding looked to work his way into the top five. Lap 8 saw trouble for Youngquist, as he spun in turn four while running third. Thompson timed his restart just right and worked his way to extending his lead once again until lap 12, the caution flag would fly as mechanical issues struck Ellensburg driver Dana Glenn, as he slowed to a stop in turn four. On the restart, the race to watch was between Margeson and Meese, as Thompson once again extended his lead. Late in the feature event on a long green flag run, Thompson maneuvered his way through lap traffic, as Margeson looked to track him down. Alberding moved by Meese for third, looking to track down the lead cars. At the end of the feature, it was Thompson picking up the win over Alberding, Meese, Margeson and Forte. Heat race winners earlier in the evening were Alberding, Forte, Cory Swatzina of Sedro Woolley, and Glenn. Robustelli picked up the ISCS Week of Speed Championship.

Dwarf Cars

Roseburg, Ore driver Anthony Pope and Shane Youngren of Tigard, Ore set the front row for the 25-lap feature event. Pope took the early lead with Youngren at his back bumper. Chris Kress of Roseburg, Friday night's feature winner looked to work his way by Youngren. Red Bluff, California driver Josh King ran in the fourth spot, looking to get by Kress. Kress looked low in turn one and made his way into second around Youngren. Pope put a little distance between himself and Kress after a handful of laps. Lap 6 saw Woodland's Chuck Jones spin in turn two bringing out the caution. On the restart Pope, Kress, and Youngren led the field into turn one. King worked his way by Youngren, as Sandy, Ore Justin DeMars looked to track down Youngren. DeMars slipped out the of top five, giving it back to Youngren, as the battle for fifth between Youngren and Jake VanOrtwick of Scappose, Ore was the race to watch. Kress made a shot at the lead into turn one but couldn't make the pass. King joined in on the battle making it a three-car affair for the lead. Pope looked strong on the low side, as did Kress. King ran the high side, moving his way into second on lap 16. Kress moved his way back into second momentarily. Kress looked to the low side of Pope in turn two making a pass for the lead with a slide job. Pope worked his way back into the lead down the backstretch. King and VanOrtwick made it a four-car battle for the lead racing side by side for a handful of laps. On lap 20 King made a pass on the high side out of turn four taking the lead from Pope. Kress and VanOrtwick continued to battle for third as the top two put some slight distance. At the end of the feature event, King picking up the win. Pope, Kress, VanOrtwick and Dave Brune rounded out the top five. Heat race winners earlier in the evening were Kress, Henry Corbin III of Mollala, Ore and Pope.

Rolling Thunder Big Rigs

The final race ever for the Rolling Thunder Big Rigs, saw a standing ovation from the huge crowd. Tammy Rodstrom of Edgewood and Toldeo's Kaleb Thompson set the front row of the 25-lap feature event. Thompson took the early lead, as Rochester's Mike Gibbons worked his way into second getting by Rodstrom for third. Rodstrom looked low to get the position back racing side by side with Gibbons for multiple laps. Dave Barr of Centralia, moved into the fourth position. Lap 3 saw Gibbons take the lead from Thompson, as Rodstrom and Thompson battled for second. Raymond driver Rob Johnson moved his way into fifth looking to track down Barr and the rest of the front runners. Rodstrom worked her way back up to make a battle for the lead on Gibbons as Barr and Tom Rayton of Centralia joined in on the battle. Barr and Rayton moved their way into second and third, shuffling Rodstrom to fourth. Barr looked low to make a pass at Gibbons for the lead, racing side by side for a handful of laps until the caution flag flew for debris. Barr led Gibbons and Rayton to the green flag. Gibbons looked low down the backstretch and took the lead from Barr, contact between Barr and Gibbons off of turn four gave Barr a shot at the lead. Barr looked to take another shot at the lead, as Rayton stayed within distance of any mishap. Barr and GIbbons once again continued their side-by-side battle for the lead for multiple laps. Rodstrom had tough company as Centralia's Brian Volk looked to take over the fourth position. Barr made a run on the outside with a handful of laps and took over the lead on lap 22 as Gibbons hit lap traffic. Rayton made a move for second on the low side coming to the white flag. Barr took the final checkered flag for the Rolling Thunder Big Rigs, Rayton, Gibbons, Volk and Johnson rounded out the top five.
