Austin Kerrigan Wins Street Stock Feature on Monday Night!

With the World of Outlaws in town, the Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks were looking to shine in front of a great crowd on Monday night. 25 Street Stocks would sign in and all cars started the feature event.

Brandon Riehl of Boring, Ore and Oakville's Brian Harding set the front row of the 20 lap feature. Riehl took the early lead from Harding, with Austin Kerrigan of Aberdeen moving into the third spot. Kerrigan looked to the inside of Riehl to take the second spot on lap two, Riehl tried the inside lane to take the position back but Kerrigan continued to run second. Spanaway's Tom Hecker joined in on the battle for second and third, as he took the third spot from Riehl, meanwhile Kerrigan looked to the inside of Harding for the lead on lap 5 in turn one, racing side by side and taking the spot out of turn two. Harding looked to the high side and took the position back, while Kerrigan tried at the lead again out of turn four and took the lead on lap 7.

It wouldn't take long for Kerrigan to have company as Hecker and Riehl were right on his back bumper and racing three wide for the lead until the caution flag would fly on lap 10 for Harding, who would come to a stop in turn one. Kerrigan led the field to the green flag as the battle for third between Aberdeen's Shane Kerrigan and Tim Phillips of Spanaway was the race to watch. Lap 11 saw Riehl look to the inside of Austin Kerrigan, making contact in turn four, taking the lead from Kerrigan. Riehl pulled away slightly until the caution would come out once again for Doug Brewester of Spanaway. Multiple cautions would come out in the 20 lap feature as the race would be cut short on lap 14. Austin Kerrigan would go on to pick up the win, Shane Kerrigan, Brenton Schnitzer, Jack Parshall and Tim Phillips rounded out the top five. Heat race winners earlier in the evening were Riehl, Harding and Shane Kerrigan, with Parshall picking up quick time.

Grays Harbor Raceway will be back in action in 2 weeks, Saturday September 19th, with the Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, Northwest Focus Midget Series, Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks and the Outlaw Tuners. Gates open at 5:30PM with racing at 7 PM!
