Summer Thunder Sprintcar Series Kicks Off Saturday

Racing roars to life in the Yakima Valley as the Summer Thunder Sprintcar Series presented by Here 2 Wire and Finishline Graphics opens the 2015 season at the Yakima Fairgrounds Dirt Track on Saturday night April 4th. It will also mark the first event for the newly created Washington Modified Tour presented by Shipwreck Beads. Gates will open at 3pm with racing beginning at 5 and finishing by 8.

Around 24 cars are anticipated to contest the first Summer Thunder Sprintcar Series event of 2015, headlined by the defending champion Colton Heath of Marysville, WA. Tayler Malsam of Sammamish has committed to run the potent Rudeen Racing #26, and fan favorite Henry Van Dam will bring his potent #33v sprint car from Enumclaw to chase the $3,000 top prize. Joe Ramaker leads the group from out of state who will be looking to bring home the cash, as the former Big Sky champ will be in attendance from Montana. Edmonton’s Skylar Gee and Steve Reeves, British Columbia’s Robbie Price and a whole host of others will look to blister the high speed ½ mile for April Glory.

The first event for the newly created Washington Modified Tour will pay $1,000 to the winner. A strong contingent of cars from the west side of the state will travel to take on a strong group of modifieds from North Central Washington in looking to write their names into the record books as the first winner in tour history.

Practice night will be Friday, April 3rd from 5-8pm where fans will be afforded an up close look at the fire breathing 700+ horsepower sprint cars of the Summer Thunder Series, as well as the modifieds of the Washington Modified Tour. On Saturday night, racing will begin at 5pm and conclude by 8. Presenting sponsors for the event are Here 2 Wire and Finishline Graphics for the Summer Thunder Sprintcar Series and Shipwreck Beads for the Washington Modified Tour. Special thanks to Speedmart and Highline Performance for their support of the event.
