Elma, WA -
Weather in the early to late afternoon added some character to the already fast ?’s Clay Oval on Saturday night at Grays Harbor Raceway. At the end of the night Zane Miner in the Modifieds, Samuel Strange in the 360 Limited Sprints, Alex Peck in the Northwest Focus Midgets, and Austin Kerrigan in the Hornets would find victory lane.
Zane Miner from Graham, WA led every lap to pick up his first Friesen Performance Modified feature of the year. Brenton Schnitzer would battle up to a second place finish after a spirited battle late with 3rd place finisher Tyson Blood who now had all 3 of the podium finish spots in the first 3 races and was your Elma Lane Hard charger of the night (+9). Austin Rognlin who is 3 for 3 in heat race wins on the season would finish 4th followed by Riley Scherer in 5th. Last weeks winner Craig Moore would hit the wall early and would lose a driveline late and not be a factor in the race.
Samuel Strange in his first start of the year because of other commitments was able to figure out early electrical issues from hot laps and qualifying and pick up the heat race and the main event. Nate Geister finished second, Piper Harless in her debut at Grays Harbor got faster every time she hit the track and finished 3rd, followed by Xan Miller who had some problems anad had to make a trip to the work area, and Scott Rinkkel. Quick time went to Nate Geister.
Alex Peck, a 3 time track champion, would take the lead out of turn 2 on lap one, to pick up his first victory at Grays Harbor driving for the In-Laws Racing 32. Doug Davenport who set quick time of the night would start 3rd on the field and would come home second, followed by Chad Kincaid and Gary Wegener. Shane Smith and Garrett Thomas would not be able to finish the main event.
Austin Kerrrigan driving the 88D Daisha Stevens hornet on opening night picked up his first ever hornet victory. The hornet division was very eventful with Jason Parmalee going upside down on one of the restarts after he came back from the work area after having issues on the initial start and going to the back. There were a few more cautions and officials moved the rest of the race to the end of the night. After the hornets came back Reuben Pruett would take the lead and Kerrigan would move to second and then a caution would bring the field closer again. On they restart Kerrigan would be able to stay close to Pruett and Kerrigan would get side by side and after contact Kerrigan would take the lead and head to victory. Pruett would finish second, followed by Nick Miles, Mike Harritt and Landon Pruett.
