Night two of the Harbor Classic Weekend was an evening full of excitement. The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, Northwest Extreme Sprints, Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, and Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks were all on the card.

Robert Duncan would set the pace early in the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series feature. The Banks, Oregon driver, in the Duncan Automotive/Dancin’ Bare/Greenway Construction #09 MasterSbilt, would lead the first twelve laps before being overtaken by Greg Walters.

Walters, last night’s winner and also from Banks, Oregon, came from the back of the field and would build a sizable lead in his T&G Trucking/American Landscaping #97 Victory Circle as the laps clicked away. But in the closing circuits the Discount Race Car Parts/All In Property Investments/Hillsboro Vac & Sew #1 MasterSbilt of Collen Winebarger from Corbett, Oregon would reel in Walters but would run out of time. Walters would win the race for his seventh victory of the season with series and his third career GHR triumph when the tour has come to town.

Collen Winebarger would finish in second followed by Vancouver’s Jerry Schram in third chauffeuring the Schram Brothers Excavating/BDR Racing/Century III Stables #16 MasterSbilt. The remainder of the top five would consist of Wishkah driver Joe German driving the Ozman Services Inc./CCS Industrial Services #75X Rayburn for car owner Phil Vinson to a fourth place finish and the Mechanical Systems Inc./Greenway Construction #28 Victory Circle of Bob Trout from Banks, Oregon in fifth. Earlier in the evening Winebarger would break the track record in time trials with his lap of 15.734 seconds.

It was a Canadian invasion in the Northwest Extreme Sprints division. Kenny Rutz of Langley, British Columbia would be the car to beat in the Turnbull Motorsports/Enforcer Clothing Inc. #38 entry. Rutz would lead every single lap and kept his mount out in front despite one of his tires going down on him.

Skylar Gee of Leduc, Alberta would finish second in his #99 machine while behind him in third was the #78 of Steve Reeves from Valleyview, Alberta. The #15 of Mike Murphy would cross the stripe in fourth followed by Sedro-Woolley’s #23 of Steve Parker in fifth.

The Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds would see another new face in victory lane as Jeff Foster would take care of business. Literally running away with the race the McCleary driver, Foster, would briefly get bottled up in lapped traffic but would hold on for the triumph in his J&F Automotive/Bayview Ready-Mix/MASCO Petroleum #8 Sidebiter. Foster would become the ninth different feature winner in the Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds this year.

Behind Foster earning the runner-up spot was Cosmopolis’ Tom Sweatman in the Sweatman Trucking/Ewing Engines/D&D Dyno #11 Shaw while Scott Miller from Shelton was third in his Blue Bear Park/Blondie’s Restaurant #26 Shaw. Last night’s winner Alan Muenchow, also from Shelton, would end his evening in fourth in the Forever Powdercoating/Advanced Auto Services/Fusion Graphix #6M and behind him in fifth went to Kelso’s Carl Larson in his Larson Trucking/J&F Automotive/D&D Dyno #55 Pro.

The Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks would see another thriller of a feature. Leading early was Jason Tole of Hoquiam who was the winner of the previous night. Tole would keep his Western Washington Construction/Crowell Brothers Automotive #34 entry out in front but the #AK47 Mustang of Aberdeen’s Shane Kerrigan would make the pass on him on lap eleven.

The two would battle back and forth in lapped traffic only for Tole to eventually get the top spot back on lap twenty-two. Tole would lead the remaining laps to capture his eighth win of the campaign.

Austin Kerrigan would end the evening in second while behind him in third was the Sweatman Trucking/D&D Automotive/Ewing Engines #11 of Cosmopolis pilot Cory Sweatman. The balance of the top five would have Eddie Blood from Olympia in fourth in his Eddie's Automotive/Fusion Graphix #97 Malibu and Don Briggs Jr. was fifth was the Custom Fiberglass/Conger Racing #13XXX of Wishkah’s Don Briggs Jr.

Snohomish’ Chase Goetz would emerge victorious once again in the USAC Ford Focus ranks. Goetz would take the lead from McCleary ace Garrett Thomas on lap twelve. The win marks the seventh occasion that the Great Western Transport/Elma Lanes #91 Beast of Goetz has visited victory lane.

The Olson Landscaping/Martelli Distributing #14 Beast of Garrett Thomas came home in second followed by the Don Emory owned Jacknut Apparel/ MASCO Petroleum #11E mount piloted by Ariel Biggs in third. Hometown driver Jeremy Miller crossed the start/finish line in fourth in his MASCO Petroleum #44 mount and behind him in fifth was the #2 of Lee St. Paul.

Grays Harbor Raceway will host the final leg of the Harbor Classic Weekend on Monday September 2nd with the World of Outlaw Sprints and Northwest Extreme Winged Sprints on the card. GHR will be off next weekend and will return to regular season action on Saturday September 14th. For more information log on to or call the Northwest Information Hotline at (360)-699-RACE.
