Elma, Washington- Teams that compete regularly on the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region circuit will have a great opportunity to dial their cars in at Grays Harbor Raceway on Saturday September 14th. Although ASCS action is complete at GHR in 2013 the Central Washington State Fair Raceway in Yakima will host the final two legs of the current campaign for the Northwest’s premier touring Sprint Car series on Friday September 20th and Saturday the 21st.
Although technically both tracks are considered 3/8-mile clay ovals the track in Yakima is slightly larger. The race this Saturday in Elma will give a perfect chance for teams to get their mounts reacquainted with the bigger tracks. In fact the 360 Sprint race at Grays Harbor Raceway is the first time since the ASCS-National Tour weekend in mid-July that the winged warriors have hit the clay while the last point race at GHR was on June 15th.
After five local events completed Reece Goetz continues to sit atop the winner’s list with two feature victories. Currently he is the only driver to have won more than once while Henry Van Dam, J.J. Hickle, and Evan Margeson have a single triumph apiece.
The Grays Harbor Raceway is known for its high speeds and side by side racing as well as its large track size. Hosting racing action from April to October regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, Street Stocks, Hornets, and for the first time the Northwest Extreme Winged Sprint Car Series. Special events include visits by the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series and American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region.
