KDUX Presents Fan Appreciation Night at Grays Harbor Raceway
This Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway located at the Fairgrounds in Elma, it will be Fan Appreciation Night presented by KDUX 104.7, all fans entering the racetrack will receive a ticket with a chance to win some great prizes, including Seattle Mariner, Tacoma Rainer tickets, Doobie Brothers, Hall & Oats and Dierks Bentley concert tickets along with Hotel accommodation certificates, gas vouchers and many more exciting prizes. There will also be a autograph session on the front stretch after qualifying to allow fan interaction with their favorite drivers.
All five ASA Track Member divisions will be in competition including, the Whitney’s Auto Group 360 Sprint Cars, Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, Triple X Ford Focus Midgets, Cut Rate Auto Parts Hobby Stocks and the Hornets.
Sprint car points leader Seth Bergman will be gunning for his fourth win in five starts in the Whitney’s Auto Group Sprint Car division. Bergman had number four in the books last weekend at the ASCS race until engine problems caused him to pit while leading the race. Bergman leads Enumclaw’s Henry Van Dam by 34 points 464 to 430, Van Dam also had problems, last Saturday night, as he destroyed his car in a horrific crash while leading the first heat race when his steering gear broke sending him hard into the turn two wall. With a lot of help from family and friends HVD should be back out this Saturday. Raymond’s Glenn Borden Jr the 2009 Champion sits in third spot with 292 points, followed by Quilcene’s JJ Hickle with 385 and Shelton’s Jay Cole with 384 points.
Four time Modified Champion Scott Miller from Shelton, continues to lead the Shipwreck Beads Modified division with 458 points, 27 more than Montesano’s Josh Muller the 2009 champion who has 431 points. Another former Modified Champion Craig Moore from Seabeck holds down third position with 391 points. The much improved Del Schnitzer, a former motorcycle champion has moved into fourth position with 370 points, Seabeck’s James Wolford and Olympia’s Steve Signal are tied for fifth place with 363 points.
Seth Hespe the 2009 Triple X Ford Focus Midget Champion leads the Triple X Championship points battle by a slim 6 points 335 to 329 over Springfield, Oregon’s Alison Journey. Hespe has won two of the first three races, with Journey picking up the other win. Lake Steven’s rookie driver Dustin O’Brien holds down third with 310, closely followed by fellow rookie Garret Johnson from Poulsbo with 294 points. 2009 Rookie of the Year Ariel Biggs rounds out the top five with 290 points.
For the first time, in a long time the Cut Rate Hobby Stock division has a new point’s leader. Cosmopolis driver Tom Sweatman picked up his first win of the 2010 season after setting fast time, to overtake Aberdeen’s Zack Simpson, 335 to 329 points. Simpson did not finish after experiencing engine problems at the last event.. Gig Harbor’s Derek Junell the 2009 Hobby Stock Champion sits in third 20 points back of the leader at 314, followed by Olympia’s Eddie Blood with 311points and Jack Parshall with 277 points.
Olympia’s Rory Clevenger, will be out to make it two in a row in the Hornets division, Aberdeen’s Cliff Gill who finished second last time out, will be looking to make his first trip to victory square.
