2010 Season Schedule and Highlights

Grays Harbor Raceway located at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds located in Elma, Washington is excited to announce their 2010 schedule.  The 31 race schedule will start on April 17th and end on October 2nd.  Couple this with the new clay put on the track in September, 2010 has the makings of a great year.

The 2010 season will again see a number of firsts for the fast high banked 3/8’s mile dirt oval considered by many as the top facility on the West Coast.  The Lucas Oil ASCS National Sprint Dirt Series which  debuted at Grays Harbor Raceway last year  for the first time ever west of the Rockies,  will change to a three day show with the (NWWT) North West Wingless Tour Sprint Cars on Thursday July 15th , followed by the ASCS National events July 16th and 17th.   You will see the top ASCS drivers in the country battle the best that the northwest has to offer.  The Eve of Destruction Demolition Derby with a Fireworks show will take place on September 25th, Destruction Derby’s have been absent from Grays Harbor Raceway in over 15 years. Travel Trailer and Motorhome jumps will grace the Raceway on May 22nd and during the Fair on August 14th.

Other highlights of the year as will be the BIG E Weekend on Labor Day Weekend, staring off on Saturday,  September 4th, the North West Wingless Sprint Cars Series take to the track along with Pacific Hardtop Racing Association Dwarf Cars.   Sunday, September 5th will see the ASCS Northwest Region event named the Night Before The Big One, and on Monday, September 6th the race everybody waits for all year along, the World of Outlaws, featuring the best 410 Sprint Cars Drivers in the world, and the popular Ford Focus Midget Class.  The Rolling Thunder Big Rigs will be back again on July 24th, after a spectular show in their first visit to Grays Harbor Raceway last year.

Other highlights include the two day ASCS Northwest Region event on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday May 29th  and Sunday May 30th,  and the final race of ASCS Northwest Region Speedweeks on Friday July 9th this will be a big tune up as the top ASCS drivers in the Northwest will run at GHR only a week before the ASCS National event.  The 11th Annual Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals will run on Friday July 30th  and Saturday July 31st that will see the top Modified drivers on the West Coast vie for the biggest Modified event in the Northwest.  The North West Wingless Tour Sprint Cars will also make two more stops at GHR in 2010, on June 12th and September 18th, the NWWT Midgets will run during the September show as well.  The annual Cut Rate Hobby Stock Challenge races this year will be run on June 19th and August 28th, these two races will be part of a four race series between Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Oregon and Grays Harbor Raceway, that will crown a overall champion..

The season will open on April 17th  with the first local points race for the Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Midgets and Hobby Stocks,  and will finish the year on Championship Night September 11th .  Qualifying will be back for all local events in 2010 for the Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and Midgets. The Hornets will once again line up their events by pill draw.

In a effort to put some more excitment into racing at Grays Harbor Raceway,  restarts in all classes except the Sprint Cars will have the leader lineup in the lead and the rest of the field will be lined up double file.  There will be no cone on the front stretch, the cars will be able to pass once they pass the chalk line in turn four.  Raceway mangement and track officials feel that this will create and promote better side by side racing.

Season Ticket information will be available early next week on the website.  Last years Season Ticket holders packets will be mailed out this week.
