ROXY Championship Night at the Races
Grays Harbor Raceway 2009 season will end this Saturday Night on ROXY Championship Night with all six classes in action. Including the Whitney’s Auto Group 360 Sprint Cars, Shipwreck Beads Modifieds, Triple X Ford Focus Midgets, Cut Rate Auto Parts Hobby Stocks, HiLine Homes Hornets and the Cruisers. Grays Harbor Raceway is a ASA Member Track. The championship for four of the six divisions are still up for grabs.
In Whitney’s Auto Group 360 Sprint Cars point standings, four time 360 Sprint Car Champion Glen Borden of Raymond holds a slim 18 point lead, 1121 to 1103 over eight time Champion Shelton’s Jay Cole. Tacoma’s Shawn Rice is still in striking distance 58 points back at 1038, followed by Kirkland’s Steve Vague with 1038 and Quilcene’s JJ Hickle at 961.
In the Shipwreck Beads Modified division Montesano’s Josh Muller holds a 29 point lead going into the final event 1320 to 1291 over defending Modified Champion Shelton’s Scott Miller. Seabeck’s James Wolfard sits in third with 1186 points followed by Joe German from Aberdeen with 1162 points. McCleary’s Jim Oien Jr. rounds out the top five with 1133points.
The Triple X Ford Focus Midget division has a terrific battle shaping up as the top four in point s are separated by only 28 points going into championship night. Auburn’s Jonathan Jorgenson once again has moved to the top of the standing with 1260 points, 12 more than Snohomish driver Seth Hespe at 1248. McCleary’s Brandon Daniel slipped two positions to third with 1245 points, Allison Journey from Springfield, Oregon moved into fourth with 1232 points, Montesano’s Jeremy Miller rounds out the top five with 1147 points.
In the Cut Rate Hobby Stocks, Zack Simpson from Aberdeen holds a 111 point lead 1469 to 1358 over Bremerton’s Keith Knowlton. Gig Harbor’s Derek Junell sits in third with 1178, followed by Alan Muenchow Jr with 1164 points, Eddie Blood from Olympia rounds out the top five with 1127points.
In the HiLine Homes Hornet division Olympia’s Rory Clevenger has moved to the top spot with 691 points, 2 more than Elma’s Kevin Krentz at 679. Aberdeen’s Cliff Gill is only 42 markers back at 639 followed by Brian Izzi from Olympia who won the last Hornet race with 507, Tyson Blood rounds out the top five with 403 points.
The team of Dana Austin and James Hinkley lead over James Atkinson and Mike Clinger, the team of Travis and Brian Brearty are third by Tad Smith and Russ Haskell. Louis and Nathan Zoren round out the top five.
The front gate will open at 4:30 pm on Saturday Night , with racing to start at 7:00 pm.
