Elma, Washington- Despite posting the most fast times and breaking the track record last year Jack Parshall was unable to win a single feature in the Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks at Grays Harbor Raceway. This year Parshall has started the year off in the right direction by winning the first race of the year last Saturday on April 20th. Jack would put his Jacknut Apparel/CNK Machine #9 Camaro into victory lane for the first time since 2011.

Parshall, the driver from Hoquiam, hunted down Brian Izzi and made the pass after a great run he made on the high side on lap ten. Izzi, also from Hoquiam, kept his Eddie’s Automotive/Fusion Graphics #17 Camaro in the hunt and nearly took the lead back shortly after losing it.

Coming into the mix to make it a three car battle was Cosmopolis’ Cory Sweatman who thrown his hat in the mix before his hood would flip up and block his vision. The setback was only temporary as Sweatman would be back in the mix shortly after the incident.

“The track was beautiful it was the best I’ve raced on in years,” commented Parshall, “it was nice, smooth, and tacky. It was very racy.”

Sweatman would move his Sweatman Trucking #11 into second with only a few laps remaining. He would mount a charge to try and overtake Parshall but he couldn’t make the pass and Parshall would earn the victory.

Sweatman would finish in the runner-up position followed by Izzi. Wishkah’s Don Briggs in his #13XXX machine would place fourth followed by the Eddie’s Automotive #97 of Eddie Blood from Olympia. It would mark a clean sweep for Jack Parshall by posting a 17.697 second quick time and winning his heat race. Defending track champion Brian Harding in the Northwest Mountain Winery/Wilcox and Flegel Petroleum Supply #28 Camaro would win the other heat.
