Elma, Washington- Before Saturday April 20th Jeff Daniel’s racing career consisted of only three starts in the 2012 season. The Ocean Shores native would lead the entire distance of the Hornet feature at Grays Harbor Raceway last Saturday night. Taking care of business he would put his Pure Clothing/John L. Scott Real Estate/John’s Plumbing #14 Honda Prelude in victory lane for the first time in his short career.
“It’s awesome to go out and win in the first race after working all winter,” commented Daniel, “the track was nice and smooth. Last year I raced three times and crashed pretty hard in two of them so to win this is big. I have to thank all of the fans and the track personnel of Grays Harbor Raceway who make this place wonderful and enjoyable to race here.”
Behind Daniel was the #17 of Willie Wright from Aberdeen and last year’s champion from Tenino Chad Norton in his Free Metal Removal/Tire Dogs #75 entry. Fourth place would be earned by Jeserae Norton, also of Tenino, in the Martin Way Collision/Eddie’s Automotive #27 machine followed by Mike Brewster of Spanaway in the #12 car. Wright managed to win the heat race earlier in the evening.
The Grays Harbor Raceway is known for its high speeds and side by side racing as well as its large track size. Hosting racing action from April to October regular classes include 360 Sprints, Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks, Hornets, and for the first time the Northwest Extreme Winged Sprint Car Series. Special events include visits by the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series and American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region.
